Assessment Tools

Strategies for authentic assessment require students to connect facts, concepts, and principles together in unique ways to solve problems or produce products. Selecting the appropriate assessment tools enables faculty to provide students quality feedback on their growth and achievement.

The flowchart below will help aid faulty to select some appropriate assessment tools.

Key Terms:
Formative Assessment: Assessment implemented during the instructional process with the goal of generating immediate feedback for student improvement.

Summative Assessment: Assessment implemented at the end of a unit, program, or course with the intent of evaluating the sum total of educational achievement.
