Why We Do It

Mt. SAC has an IRB in order to protect human subjects during research conducted at the College. There are many federal policies that address the proper use of resources, procedures, and consent in order to ensure the safety of subjects. Our job is to ensure that the aforementioned are followed as much as is reasonable. Our most important job is to provide training opportunities for employees, students, and outside researchers to inform all regarding the proper parameters of human subjects research so as to minimize issues. Ultimately, we do this work because we have a vested interest in conducting ethical research that is generalizable to the research community.
