Nursing Assistant Programs
Nursing assistants are important health care professionals who handle day-to-day care of patients. There is currently high demand for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Acute Care Nursing Assistants, and Certified Home Health Aides in southern California and throughout the state. In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists nursing assistants as one of the fastest-growing occupations in the United States. Care Coordinator
This program is intended to prepare students to work in a healthcare facility or in the related home health care field. Students will learn to provide timely access to quality healthcare through all phases of the healthcare continuum, determine needs of patients, identify resources, and create an appropriate discharge plan to prevent readmission. Recommended for currently employed CNA's and Medical Assistants.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNA Program
Certified Nursing Assistants handle day-to-day care of patients. The program is state approved and prepares students to work as an entry-level health care provider to patients in a variety of settings including long-term care facilities. The course includes 66 hours of theory and 108 hours of clinical segments. Upon successful completion of the program, the student is eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam. The course is offered multiple times a year. Students are required to attend a mandatory orientation.

- Acute Certified Nursing Assistant
The Acute Care Nursing Assistant is a CNA who works in various departments of acute care hospitals. The class is an additional 96 hours including 32 hours of theory and 64 hours of clinical. Students who take the CNA program and pass the State Exam are eligible for the program. Space for the course is limited and students are accepted through a lottery system.

Certified Home Health Aide
A student who is already a CNA is eligible to take this course. The course is state approved which includes 21 hours of theory and 21 hours of clinical. Once certified, a home health aide can be employed to care for people who have disabilities, chronic illnesses, cognitive impairments, or age-related problems in the setting of the client's home.

- Emergency Medical Technician
This short-term program is intended to prepare students to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to work for an ambulance service or in related fire departments, hospitals, or other rescue services. This program is specifically for noncredit students who are seeking training in the public safety field for immediate employment. Furthermore, this program will also provide foundational skills and training for students to enter into more advanced public safety programs. Students must pass both core courses to earn the Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
Awards an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course Completion Certificate needed to take National Registry Certifying Exam.

EMT Summer 2021
- In-Home Support Services/Personal Care Aide/Caregiver
This training prepares the student to become a Personal Care Aide/Caregiver in 7-8 weeks. The program is designed to prepare students to assist elderly, disabled, or ill individuals living at home, in an assisted living facility, or at an adult day center. Students will learn skills in personal hygiene, safe transfer techniques, and stages of Alzheimer's and dementia. The course is typically offered four times a year. - Medical Assistant
This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions within administrative or clinical career paths. Students will learn about the medical assistant scope of practice, tasks, and responsibilities, basic pharmacology for medical assistants, and medical front office operations. Topics also include a basic overview of major body systems and physiological processes, examinations and therapeutic modalities, laboratory procedures, and an overview of qualifications, training, and career opportunities for medical assistants.

- Physical Therapist Aide
This course will provide students with a basic understanding of working in a physical therapy setting with patients who need rehabilitation from an injury or accident. The course includes medical terminology used in the profession. The course is approximately 12 weeks and typically offered three times a year.

- Sports Medicine
This short-term program is intended to provide students with the skills and knowledge to start a career in Sports Medicine. This program will teach students how to assist patients with a variety of injuries under the supervision of an Athletic or Fitness Trainer. These positions also have the responsibilities for completing nontechnical duties such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients under the direction of the trainer.
