High School Referral is your free, online, self-paced, independent study solution! HSR allows high school students the opportunity to retake classes to earn a higher grade, make up credits, and/or get ahead in their studies.

Mt. SAC instructors supervise the classroom and provide individual instruction and support. Students must be currently enrolled in high school and have parent and counselor consent to participate.

HSR Summer Program (June 16-July 24, 2025)

  • Applications for summer will open in February 2025
  • Applications are first-come, first-served. If a classes are full, we will have a waitlist and students will be notified of class placement by June 18th.
  • You receive notification of class (or waitlist) placement shortly after your application is complete
  • Free, 100% online a-g approved high school classes
  • Flexible scheduling with weekly required instructor check-ins via Zoom
  • Online faculty, tutorial, and counseling support between 4-8pm Monday-Thursday

Program & Registration Information

  • Important Dates & Schedule Info

    Academic Year (September-May)

    • Classes start on September 9th and you can start a class any time until April 14, 2025.
    • Classes end May 22nd and all work must be submitted by 8pm on May 22nd.
    • Winter Break is December 15-January 8 and classes will not be available during that time.
    • Instructors and tutors are available to help you online Monday-Thursday from 4-8pm.
    • You create your own schedule and work at your own pace.
    • Classes are designed to take approximately 75 hours to complete and include assignments, quizzes, tests, essays, discussion questions, and a final exam.
    • The orientation video covers how the program works and how to access your class(es).

     

    Summer Session (June 17-July 25, 2024)

    • Classes start on June 17 and you must attend an orientation in Canvas that day (available orientation times are 4pm, 5:30pm, and 7pm).
    • Classes end on July 25th and all work must be submitted by 8pm on July 25th.
    • Instructors and tutors are available to help you online Monday-Thursday from 4-8pm.
    • You create your own schedule and work at your own pace.
    • You must complete a quick check-in with your instructor via Zoom once a week.
    • Instructors will not be available on Wednesday, June 19th or Thursday, July 4th due to holidays.
    • Classes are designed to take approximately 75 hours to complete and include assignments, quizzes, tests, essays, discussion questions, and a final exam.
  • Course Requirements & General Information

    All Sessions

    • Students are required to complete all required coursework by the last day of class indicated below, including submitting assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests as specified by the teacher.
    • Students must achieve a “C” (70%) or better overall grade for the class. Credit will not be issued for any grade lower than a C.
    • Upon completion of your course, an official transcript will be mailed to your school. The student will also be sent an email with their grade. Please check with your home high school’s registrar to ensure they received your grade.
      • If you need a transcript sent to you, your school, or a college/university, please complete this form. The Mt. SAC Parchment transcript does not list your high school courses.
    • Your course will be accessible via Canvas online.
    • Courses are certified as fulfilling the UC/CSU “A-G” & NCAA subject requirements (our CEEB Code is 053703).

     

    Academic Year (September-May)

    • Students can only take one class at a time, but can start another class when they finish a class.
    • Winter break will be December 12 at 8pm-January 6 at 4pm. Classes will not be available during that time.
    • The last day to complete a class is May 22, 2025.

     

    Summer Session (June-July)

    • Students can take two classes (a total of ten high school credits) during the summer session.
    • Students must start their class(es) on the first day of the summer session.
    • Students must finish their class(es) on the last day of the summer session at 8pm.
  • Registration
    • Click here to register.
    • Please DO NOT use your school email address on these forms as many districts block Mt. SAC emails.
    • A parent or legal guardian must also authorize your class.
    • Your counselor must also approve your class placement.
    • Most math & science classes are only available to make-up a grade and not for original credit/get-ahead credits during the academic year (September-May).
    • We will send you a confirmation email once you are placed into your class.

  • Online Coursework Info
    • All coursework will be done online through the Mt. SAC Canvas App and must be done by the student without outside assistance (including online resources, peers, family, etc.).
    • Students will not need a textbook.
    • Students must be able to access Canvas online in order to complete the class.
    • The orientation video covers how to access and use Canvas as well as class procedures and policies. 
    • Canvas and Portal access instructions are available here.
    • Students may need to check in periodically with their instructors via Zoom (as required by their instructor).
  • Student Support & Progress Checks
    • The High School Referral counselor is available at sjansen1@mtsac.edu if you need assistance.
    • Parents may email Sherrie to check on their student’s progress.
    • Any school official inquiring about the progress of your child will be given any and all necessary information.
    • Students are responsible for confirming with the instructor that their coursework is completed prior to the last day of class.

  • Discipline Policy

    If a student is found to be violating the Mt. SAC Standards of Conduct, they will be required to meet with Omideh Miri, Assistant Director, via Zoom to discuss the infraction. If the behavior persists, or another violation occurs, the student will be referred to Mt. SAC Student Life and may not be able to complete the course. 

  • Transcripts

    Your transcripts will be AUTOMATICALLY sent to your high school.

    If you need a copy of your transcripts sent to you, another high school, or a college, please complete this form.

    Just as a reminder, for college applications, please use our CEEB Code 053703 and not the Mt. San Antonio College code. The College does not issue high school transcripts and uses a different code, which can cause delays and confusion with applications.

  • California Community College ID# (CCCID) and CCCApply

    All community college students are required to have a CCCID number. If you have taken classes at a community college in the past, then you probably already have a CCCID.

    If you do not yet have an CCCID, we will create one for you. However, it is important to know how to find your CCCID & CCCApply information so you can sign into CCCApply and apply to ANY California community college in the future.

    How to find your temporary CCCApply log in information (click here for a visual guide):

    Option 1: Check on the Mt. SAC Portal (https://inside.mtsac.edu)

    1. Sign into the Mt. SAC Portal using your Mt. SAC username (don’t know it? Skip down to Option 2)
      • If you don't know your password, choose “Forgot Password”
        • A password reset email should be sent to your email
        • If you don’t get it, skip to Option 2
    2. Go to the student page from the options in the top left corner
    3. Under the “Student Self-Service” card, choose #15 to get to the next screen
    4. Click on the “Student” tab and at the bottom of the list, you will see “Display CCCID”
    5. Click on “Display CCCID”
    6. Your CCCID and CCCApply email and password will be listed
    7. Sign back into cccapply.org using that email and password (Slide #7 in the attached pdf)
        • Reset your password
        • On the home page, scroll down to “Account Information” and click on “Edit my Account”
        • Update your email address (you won’t be able to get the security code of if you skip this step)
    8. Complete your application!

    Option 2: Get your CCCApply Info from Mt. SAC

    1. Email hsr@mtsac.edu and include your name, birthday, and Mt. SAC ID# (if you know it).
    2. Wait for an email with your temporary CCCApply email and password
    3. Sign back into cccapply.org using that email and password (Slide #7 in the attached pdf)
        • Reset your password
        • On the home page, scroll down to “Account Information” and click on “Edit my Account”
        • Update your email address (you won’t be able to get the security code of if you skip this step)
    4. Complete your application!

 

Note: Students who engage in cheating or plagiarism are subject to immediate dismissal from the High School Program.
