WHO ARE WE?

My name is Arnita Champion, and I am the Career Specialist and Coordinator for the Registered Veterinary Technician Work Experience Programs.  If you are looking for a program that integrates knowledge and theory  in a career technical  classroom with practical application and skill... Work Experience is for you. With over 26 years of providing students with career and academic guidance, I am excited to provide Mt. San Antonio College Students (Mt. SAC) with the opportunity to gain valuable experience, creating SUCCESS STORIES, while making connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths. WHAT IS WE?

The Work Experience program is designed to give students hands on opportunity to experience their potential career path while earing course credit. Students spend a semester with business partners and participate in various activities/projects. Work Experience is structured and set up with accountability/progress check- ins (i.e. Mid-Assessments, Site-Visits and Final Evaluations from students and Site Supervisors).  It is a golden opportunity to build their resume and professional network.  Participating agencies are: Inland Valley Human Society, Inland Valley Veterinary Specialists, Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA and more...

Work Experience is not open to all students.

Students eligible to participate in the FIRST YEAR of Veterinary Technology Work Experience  AGHE 83 must have the following:

  • Overall good academic standing
  • Must have completed ( AGAN 51 Animal Handling and Restraint)
  • Completed a minimum of 1/3 units of major courses OR Completed one SAMC course
  • Be able to dedicate a minimum of 8 hours per week to the program
  • Must take Work Experience for a total of 4 times

Students eligible to participate in the SECOND YEAR  of Veterinary Technology Work Experience  AGHE 83 must have the following: 

  • Overall good academic standing
  • Must have completed ( AGHE 60 Medical Nursing and Animal Care  & AGHE 61 Surgical Nursing)
  • Completed a minimum of 1/3 units of major courses OR Completed one SAMC course
  • Be able to dedicate a minimum of 8 hours per week to the program
