Revival of Latinx Association
Raices: Latinx Faculty and Staff Association was established in February 2018 to support the needs and interests of Latinx employees at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC). The purpose of Raices is to empower and engage Latinx employees at Mt. SAC by developing, advocating and responding to the academic, social, political and economic needs of the Latinx community.
Raices shall promote the concerns of the college’s Latinx employees and serve to highlight the voices of Latinx employees and students. Raices shall support the mission and integrity of the Mt. SAC District. Below is a snapshot of the reactivation timeline:

February 2018- General interest meeting to reactivate Latino Faculty Staff Association (LFSA)
March 6, 2018- Nominations and voting for LFSA 2018-19 Governing Board took place: o President: Diana Felix
o Vice President: Jeze Lopez o Secretary: Elizabeth Estevez o Treasure: Rigo Estrada
April 18th, 2018- Governing Board with Past President of LFSA, Jim Ocampo met with Mt. SAC President, Dr. Bill Scroggins to share information about the Association. Dr. Scroggins was enthusiastic and supportive of our initiatives.
June 8th, 2018- Member Planning Retreat- hosted by Past President, Jim Ocampo off- campus to discuss bylaws, fall 2018 planning, and future of LFSA. LFSA name was changed to Raices. Bylaws were reviewed and approved and Chairs were nominated and appointed.

Latinx Mountie Mentor- April 11, 2019 – Tannia Robles is looking for speaker recommendations/suggestions/ideas and most importantly your presence! Email Elizabeth if want to get involved in the planning.
Latinx Centro Committee- Eva Rios-Alvardo is developing a committee to collect data and support the creation of a Latinx Centro on campus. Email Eva and/or Elizabeth Estevez.
Raza Recognition Celebration 2019 Committee- Need a Co-Chair for this committee. We want to organize a celebration for our Raza students this spring. Email Elizabeth Estevez to get involved in the planning.
Raices: Fall 2018 Highlights
Raices hosted two Café con Pan events at Founders Hall to inform campus community on the association and upcoming goals- Over 45 staff and faculty attended.
Raices collaborated to host the Student Equity Speaker Series and showcased a film, ROCIO, on November 29, 2018.
Raices hosted an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Representative Training on December 11, 2018 3:00-4:30 pm, 12 staff and faculty attended.
Raices held monthly meetings and established a logo.

Dr. Francisco Dorame-is the new Dean of Counseling
Equity Center is now open-Arise, Aspire, Dream and REACH Programs are housed in that new center, go visit the new space
Laura Muniz –Dream Program, received Mt. SAC's Inspiring Women Award
