Michelle Newhart, PhD

Instructional Design

I am an instructional designer at Mt. SAC in the Faculty Center for Learning Technology, the Office of Distance Learning and Instructional Technology, in the Division of the Library, Learning Resources, and Distance Learning Division. In this faculty-facing role, I prepare and deliver professional development opportunities for professors on andragogy and technology with a specialization in accessibility and distance learning. Alongside my FCLT colleagues, I offer consulation on how to design effective courses and use available technologies. I have worked at Mt. SAC since 2015, and have over two decades of experience teaching college courses, facilitating professional development for educators and developing content for courses and book publishers.

An academic at heart, I'm an avid writer and rider, authoring books in the social sciences and putting in miles on my bicycle. You might even see me bike commuting to work when the weather permits!
