Dr. Martha Garcia President/CEO Dr. Martha Garcia invites the campus community  to a second Campus Safety Forum to discuss the recent incidents on campus as well as take live questions about the incidents and security on the campus. At the first forum, Dr. Garcia was ill and addressed the crowd remotely, unable to take or answer questions herself.

The full text of Dr. Garcia's invitation is below:

Dear Mt. SAC Family,

I hope you are well. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to those of you who joined us at the Campus Safety Forum on Wednesday, October 11th. We received 195 questions and comments that covered a broad range of topics. Many expressed concerns about their safety, some wondered about campus processes, and others challenged the status quo. We take your concerns and suggestions seriously and our hard-working and dedicated teams appreciate your feedback. We have uploaded responses to frequently asked questions onto the Campus Safety Forum website. While we did our best to address as many of your questions as possible, the campus community needs more time for this important discussion.

To continue our conversation about safety, I am inviting the campus community to a second Campus Safety Forum on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 2:30-4:30p.m. in Building 13-1700. This event will have a different format. I will personally moderate the forum. We will prioritize taking live comments and answering live questions on a first-come, first-served basis. Our priority is to provide a healthy space for open and respectful dialogue.

Again, I reiterate that we are taking campus safety seriously, and we care about you and your well-being. New safety measures have already taken effect, including temporary security staff to support the Safety Escort program and increased foot patrols. You can reach Police & Campus Safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by texting the anonymous tip line at (909) 610-9139 or calling(909) 274-4555.

Sincerely,

Dr. Martha Garcia Martha Garcia, Ed.D.
