Lance Heard

Professor Lance Heard’s Law Enforcement career spanned from 1990 to 2008. As a 10 year sergeant, his assignments included community relations, detective supervisor, and patrol. As an officer, his specialty assignments ranged from D.A.R.E. to beach patrol and investigations, including crimes against persons, financial crimes, and juvenile cases. Prior to transferring to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, he began his career at LAPD and worked in Harbor, Wilshire, and Pacific area stations.

An army veteran, Lance Heard served six years active duty in New York, Texas, Germany, and Korea. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Air Defense Artillery in 1982 and left the Army as a Captain in 1988. He served primarily as a surface to air missile officer with the PATRIOT missile system.

Professor Heard has been at Mt SAC since 2008.
