PIE Categories

Facilities: Anything that involves changes to school facilities. Painting, construction, remodeling, electrical work.

Instructional Equipment: Items costing $500 or more (including tax and shipping), which are used by students and/or are used in the classroom or lab. Lab computers, printers for student use, classroom furniture, some maps.

Instructional Supplies: Items costing under $500 (including tax and shipping), which are used by students and/or are used in the classroom or lab. Ink for lab printers, thermal laminator for making flash cards.

I.T. Support: Installation, maintenance, and similar costs that will be incurred by I.T. in support of the division. Maintenance budget for projectors, consolidation of records.

Lottery: A subset of instructional supplies, intended to help students acquire facts, skills, or opinions or develop cognitive processes. Clickers, lab software, whiteboard markers and erasers.

Marketing: Resources used primarily to promote programs and events. Flyers, posters, advertisements.

Non-instructional Equipment: Items costing $500 or more (including tax and shipping), which are not used by students and are not used in the classroom or lab. Office furniture, faculty computers, workroom printers.

Non-instructional Supplies: Items costing under $500 (including tax and shipping), which are not used by students and are not used in the classroom or lab. Ink for workroom printers, office supplies.

Other: Costs not able to be sorted into other categories. Speakers for events, facilities costs for tournaments, hospitality costs.

Professional Development: Training and career advancement for faculty, including through POD and conferences.

Research Support: Data tracking and other research through RIE, in order to improve institutional effectiveness and improve unit planning.

Staffing: Classified or temporary employees requested to do the work of the unit. Not faculty.
