CPR & Medical Related Programs


    • BLS Health Care Provider 
      Meets all medical-related requirements. Covers adults, child and infant choking, heart attack and stroke. 1 & 2 Rescuer CPR. AED/barrier devices. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • BLS Health Care Provider Retraining 
      For health care providers to renew their CPR card before it expires. Current healthcare provider card must be brought to class. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • BLS Heartsaver Course - Adult and Pediatric (CPR only) 
      Adult, Child, Infant 1-Rescuer CPR/barrier devices, breathing emergencies, heart attack and stroke. Meets requirements for California teachers/coaches. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • Heartsaver First Aid--Adult & Pediatric (CPR & First Aid) 
      The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult, child and infant emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult, child and infant CPR and AED. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) 
      Managing adults with sudden witnessed ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia arrest/AED/manage 10 core cases.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Renewal 
      The ACLS Provider Course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. Providers are expected to learn to manage 10 core ACLS cases; a respiratory emergency, four types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA and asystole), four types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia and acute coronary syndromes) and stroke. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 

      The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course are to provide the learner with:

      • Information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest.
      • Information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children.
      • The cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Renewal 

      The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to provide the learner with:

      • Information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest.
      • Information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children.
      • The cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest. (Students must bring current textbook to class. Books are available at the Mt. SAC bookstore).
    • Critical Care Nursing 
      This course covers basic aspects of critical care. Ventilators and Hemodynamic monitoring are incorporated. Designed to help the nurse enter critical care & enter current critical nurse enhance knowledge and rationale for practice.
    • Cardiac Dysrhythmias Interventional Approaches 
      This program is recommended for first time ACLS providers, monitor technicians, or those working in monitored areas. Analysis of cardiac rhythm strips will be taught. Program requires homework and study (CNS appropriate).
      BLS Instructor Course - Update 
      For the AHA BLS Instructor who wants to renew their card prior to expiration.
    • Dysrhythmias for RN Students (Mt. SAC students only) 
      An overview of cardiac dysrhythmias to help students prepare for course content. Students will utilize the chapters in their nursing books as their course text. Participants who complete an optional dysrhythmia exam at 75% competency will receive a certificate. Must be present for both days to take the optional exam.
