Emergency Preparedness
Mt. SAC faculty, staff, and administrators collaborate to provide as safe a campus and educational environment as possible. The Department of Police and Campus Safety, the offices of Student Life, Risk Management, Health Services, and Marketing work in concert to provide safety, emergency preparation, communications, and emergency services.
What is Disaster Management?
Disaster Management is a plan that incorporates an organized set of procedures and protocols to follow to help the College prepare for, survive, and rebuild following an emergency.
- Mitigation: Identifying risks and taking action to eliminate or reduce the loss of life and property related to an act that cannot be prevented.
- Preparedness: Developing emergency plans, acquiring and preparing supplies and equipment, response training, and personal preparedness techniques.
- Response: Actions taken to effectively contain and resolve the emergency or disaster.
- Recovery: The effort to restore life to its previous social and economic level. Planning, though critical, is not the only component of the program. Personal preparedness and response training, conducting drills, testing equipment and coordinating activities with the community are other important functions.
