ENGL 1A Course Image
This course helps the student develop effective expository writing skills; investigates the principles and methods of composition as applied to the writing of essays and the research paper; emphasizes critical reading of academic material.
 
(72 hours lecture;      Transferable, UC/CSU/Private)
(May be taken two times for credit.  May be taken for option of letter grade or Credit / No Credit.)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Analyze and evaluate topics for written assignments.
  2. Analyze and evaluate academic models in order to construct logical, correct, and complete outlines.
  3. Write coherent, correct essays.
  4. Write a coherent, correct library research paper.
  5. Develop critical/analytical skills for the evaluating, editing, and rewriting of essays.
  6. Use the rhetorical patterns in appropriate, pure, or combined form.
