CISN 34 - Linux Networking
                and Security Lecture
                (3.0 units)
Installation and management of Linux operating system networks and security modules.   Concept study and installation of: TCP/IP protocols, IP addressing, network protocols and servers, routers, and network applications. Creating Linux intranets and connecting to Internet.

Student must take CISN 34L - Linux Networking and Security Lab , a concurrent co-requisite.
(54 hours lecture   Degree applicable, CSU)
Co-requisite:   CISN 34L - Linux Networking and Security Lab
Advisory Prerequisite:   CISN 31 - Linux Operating System

  1. Plan, install, configure and manage a Linux network.
  2. Connect Linux and Windows computers to a Linux network.
  3. Evaluate, install and manage Linux networking hardware and software.
  4. Select and install security modules for Linux servers and networks.
  5. Connect a Linux network to Internet.
  6. Evaluate need for and install Linux routers and gateways.
  7. Select, install and manage Linux servers.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:


Students completing CISN 34 - Linux Networking and Security Lecture will be able to:
  1. install a SAMBA server in a Linux computer.
  2. install an Apache web server in a Linux computer.
