The Mt. San Antonio College Child Development Center and Laboratory School was established solely as a Preschool Program in January 1975. The Center was the result of collaboration between the Associated Students and the Child Development Department. We began enrolling infants and toddlers in 1990 and currently serve over 200 children and families each semester.

From 2005 to the present day, the Child Development Center has been accredited as an exemplary program by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) .

The philosophy of education at the Mt. San Antonio College Child Development Center is based on child development research and theory, which finds that children form most of their attitudes about self and learning by the age of five.  Our goals for children focus on learning environments and a meaningful curriculum that fosters and encourages each child's maximum physical, psychosocial and cognitive potential.

We also embrace teacher-child ratios which allow for the development of nurturing relationships between the adult and child; relationships that cultivate trust, communication skills, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution and independence.  We believe a strong foundation in the above areas, including early math, science, and literacy skills enable children to enter the K-12 system prepared and excited to learn!
