Information Resources and Research Methods

Fall 2004

Class Statement of Purpose:

We will gain efficient research skills to become organized and not be overwhelmed with information by using a step by step process to learn how to use, critically evaluate, and properly cite a variety of resources, including print and electronic, in order to get a good grade and earn three units.

Class Rules

Tardies/Absences:

  • Arriving more than 10 minutes after class begins constitutes a tardy (after 2:10 pm).
  • Three tardies will count as an absence.
  • After the second unexcused absence (whether due to excessive tardies or missing class), 5 points will be deducted from your attendance score for each absence.

Late Assignments:

  • Late assignments will be accepted for a period of two weeks after the due date.
  • Late assignments are eligible for no more than half credit.

Emergencies/Extenuating Circumstances:

  • It is the student's responsibility to contact the instructor, either via email (ddistante@mtsac.edu) or phone (909-594-5611 x4285), in a timely manner in the case of an emergency or extenuating circumstances.
  • These will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
  • If the instructor is not contacted in a timely manner, the above criteria will be applied to all tardies, absences, and late assignments.
