Transfer-Related Programs at Mt. SAC

Mt. SAC has a number of student programs to help students succeed and transfer.  Check them out and get involved!  Click on their names to go to their specific sites for more information.

ACES
ACES (Achieving in College, Ensuring Success) is designed to assist low-income, first to attend college in family, and/or disabled students obtain an Associates degree and transfer from Mt. San Antonio College to a four-year institution.

ASPIRE
ASPIRE (African American Student Program Inspiring Responsibility for Education) is a dynamic program designed to provide essential educational support and services to increase the academic success, retention, degree completion, and transfer rates of African-American and other students enrolled at Mt. San Antonio College.

BRIDGE PROGRAM
The Bridge Program offers several learning communities designed to increase students’ academic and personal success through the structuring of the learning environment.  Students participating in a learning community are enrolled in linked or clustered classes that are taught in a cooperative environment between instructors.  There are various different learning communities offered:  Summer Bridge, Math Bridge, English Bridge, Reading Bridge and pre-Nursing/Health Bridge.  Each learning community focuses on a specific academic need and has an assigned counselor to assist students.

HONORS PROGRAM
The Mt. SAC Honors Program offers honors sections of transferable general education courses. These courses provide an enriched curriculum, seminar-type classes, close interaction with honors program faculty, and special projects and activities.  In addition, Honors Program students may participate in special activities and events as well as study and receive honors advising in the Honors Center.  Honors Program students who meet specific requirements may also participate in special transfer agreements with designated universities.

STEM SCHOLARS
The STEM Scholars program is for academically talented but financially needy full-time students interested in obtaining an associate degree in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) or transfer to a four-year university to obtain higher education degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) disciplines.  In addition to scholarships and research opportunities, the students participating in the program will receive an array of academic support including individual advising, tutoring and mentoring by experienced STEM faculty at Mt. SAC to succeed in their education.

TEACHER PREPARATION INSTITUTE
Being a part of this program provides students with special support and services to assist in choosing appropriate classes, making transfer decisions, and ultimately completing a teaching credential in elementary, secondary or special education teaching, as well as an Associate Degree for instructional aides.

TEST:UP
Talent Expansion in Science and Technology: an Urban Partnership (TEST: UP) provides activities and initiatives that will produce more science, technology, engineering and math transfers to four-year institutions.  Students in this program will be able to access mentoring, book scholarships, specialized counseling, supplemental instruction, and connections with four-year universities related to majors in science, technology, engineering and math.
