Other suggestions that will assist with the processing of your Financial Aid application are:

  1. File an Admissions application if you are not a current student. Indicate your Major. A Major listed as "Undecided" or "General Interest" is not an eligible Major for Financial Aid. See a counselor to update your Major
  2. Notify Admissions and Financial Aid of name and/or address changes immediately.
  3. Apply early. If you wait to submit your forms you may encounter long lines and lengthy waiting periods.
  4. Attend a Financial Aid Seminar on Campus to assist you in completing your application.

Mt. San Antonio College is a Quality Assurance Institution with the Department of Education. If you are selected as a verification student, we will contact you for additional documentation that you MUST provide. Such information may include tax returns. There may be additional paperwork which may be required. Respond to any request for additional documents A.S.A.P. to avoid delaying the processing of your Financial Aid file. Once your Financial Aid file is complete, you will receive an award letter in the mail. The award letter will list all aid awarded for the academic year. (Click here to see sample Award Letter) Along with the award letter, you will be sent an Award Authorization Sheet explaining the award process.
Applying for Student Loans

Once you have received your Award Letter and you are interested in applying for a student loan, call the Financial Aid Office at Extension 4450 and sign-up for an Entrance Counseling Session. These one hour sessions are mandatory for student loans and are offered once per month. You will receive all necessary loan requisition forms at this session and have all your questions answered.

Once you have attended a loan session and completed and submitted all required documents, it is approximately a 4 to 6 week process before loan funds are disbursed, if your loan is approved.
