Throughout the year, Career Services presents a variety of workshops that are designed to provide job seekers with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete effectively for employment offers. The dates and times for these workshops are posted on our Career Services Calendar. A listing of workshop subjects with brief descriptions of each are given below:
The Great Resume & Application Workshop
Well-written resumes open the doors to interview opportunities. They are generally used by employers to determine which candidates will be invited for a job interview and which will be screened out. Not only does the candidate need to have the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job, but he/she also needs to convey those qualifications on their resume in a way that is clear, concise, and easy to read with a professional look. This workshop teaches you how to use a resume, which type of resume is right for you, what content to include in the resume, how the content should be arranged, how to write a cover letter and how to submit an application. Those who attend will also learn what a scannable resume is, how to write one, and when to use it. Even if you have already written you resume, you can benefit from this workshop…especially if you are having trouble landing an interview.
