Students will be able have awareness of the demands of various multi-disciplinary texts. ^ Faculty will examine and determine consistent and effective approaches to teaching Word Concept Mapping to READ 100 students. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ Students will be able to identify and answer questions at all four Levels of Comprehension.
LERN 48Basic Math Skills Review^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ LERN students completing the one semester linked LERN 48/49 sequence will be able to complete the coures with greater success than unliked, semester long LERN 48/49 classes. ^ Student will be able to apply strategies for learning math. ^ Student will be able to demonstrate proper use of math terms/vocabulary. ^ Student will be able to select strategies for solving a variety of word problems. ^ Student will be able to solve multi-step problems using more than one approach. ^ Student will be able to solve problems of basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division for whole numbers, exponents, order of operations, factoring, multiples, prime numbers, prime factoring) ^ Using a 3-point rubric constructed by LAC Math Faculty, more than 60% of the students will earn an average score of at least 2. Also, less than 20% will score 1 in any of the three categories.

Students will be able to recognize connections among ideas in an expository text. ^ 5. Students will be able to question expository text at a variety of comprehension levels. ^ 6. Students will be able to demonstrate awareness of demands for reading expository text. ^ 60% of students completing READ 80 will be able to explain their vocabulary strategy use for a given narrative and a given expository excerpt as measured by a rubric constructed by reading faculty as a “meets standard” level in all areas measured. ^ 70% of students will demonstrate the effectiveness of their chosen vocabulary strategy by accurately using their word in context. ^ Faculty will examine and determine consistent and effective approaches to teaching Word Concept Mapping to READ 80 students. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students.

Students will be able to demonstrate awareness of demands for reading narrative text. ^ 60% of students completing READ 70 will be able to explain their vocabulary strategy choice a given narrative text as measured by a rubric constructed by reading faculty as a “meets standard” level in all areas measured. ^ 70% of students will demonstrate the effectiveness of their chosen vocabulary strategy by accurately using their word in context. ^ Faculty will examine and determine consistent and effective approaches to teaching Word Concept Mapping to READ 70 students. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students.
LERN 81 (VOC)Improving Writing Skills^ Students will increase how much they value writing and be able to be able to articulate the value of writing in their lives by making real world connections. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to adapt their learning strategies to their writing. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to apply structure to their writing. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to respond to a given assignment. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to self-evaluate their own writing process. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to self-evaluate their own writing product. ^ Students in LERN 81 will be able to utilize writing resources.
TUTR 10A (VOC)Introduction to Tutoring^ Students who take this course will identify goals and strategies of effective tutoring sessions. ^ Students who take this course will link conflict types to factors affecting the tutoring process ^ Students who take TUTR 10A will demonstrate growth in their awareness of the scope of a tutor?s responsibilities. ^ Students who take TUTR 10A will rank course curriculum as to its correlation with effective tutoring sessions. ^ Students who take TUTR 10A will report their personal training goal was met. ^ Students who take TUTR 10A will transform passive tutoring interactions into active ones. ^ Students will be able to identify at least three ways to promote active learning with students in tutoring sessions. ^ Students will be able to identify goals and strategies of effective tutoring sessions. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10A will demonstrate understanding of questioning methods to encourage active learning. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10A will identify characteristics of Basic Skills students. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10A will use questioning methods to encourage active learning. ^ Tutors will be able to identify tutoring challenges and ways to address those challenges.

LCOM 100Learning Communities: Interdisciplinary^ A key component of collective efficacy is to be able to identify the strengths of teammates to ensure that there is a balance and range of skills necessary to be successful. It is also necessary to identify and constructively address any shortcomings that could present potential issues that might affect the success of the group. This SLO was designed to assess whether the students were able to identify and effectively work with the strengths and shortcomings of their teammates. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students.

BS LRN03Math Skills Review^ LAC and Cont Educ Div are exploring ownership of outcome, as students may enroll in the course from both teams.
READ 90Preparing for College Reading^ 1. Student will be able to explain own schema for approaching college-level textbooks. ^ 2. Students will be able to use structural organization to explain college-level textbooks. ^ 3. Students wil be able to use vocabulary strategies appropriate to college-level textbooks. ^ 4. Students will be able to recognize connections among ideas in college-level textbooks. ^ 5. Students will be able to question college-level textbooks at a variety of comprehension levels. ^ 6. Students will be able to demonstrate awareness of demands for reading college-level textbooks. ^ Faculty will examine and determine consistent and effective approaches to teaching Word Concept Mapping to READ 90 students. ^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ Students in READ 90 at Mt. SAC who complete the coursework will succeed in at a higher rate.

STDY 100Student Achievement and Fundamentals of Learning^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ Students will be able to correctly understand and apply each of the four components of emotional intelligence, i.e., self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. ^ Students will be able to create a system for applying their learning styles in classroom environments. ^ Students will feel a high level of personal agency, i.e., their self-perceived ability to begin and continue movement on selected pathways toward their goals ^ Students will increase their internal locus of control.
STDY 85CStudy Techniques and Skills for Online Learning^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ STDY 85C students will be able to demonstrate appropriate use of various tools in Blackboard. ^ STDY 85C students will be able to report an increased level of confidence in their ability to succeed in various online learning skills. ^ Students enrolled in the Online Learning Success Skills (STDY 85C) courses will be able to assess their time management practices during a pre-survey, and in a post survey, identify resources which were helpful in improving their time management. ^ Students will create effective plans for eliminating the things that rob their time. ^ Students will increase their internal locus of control.

STDY 85ATest-Taking and Stress Management^ LAC students will increase their confidence level as students. ^ STDY 85A students will be able to report an increased level of confidence in their ability to apply stress management skills. ^ STDY 85A students will be able to report an increased level of confidence in their ability to apply test-taking skills. ^ Students will know brain-based methods for reducing the Reticular Activating Response (RAS) before/during a test.
TUTR 10C (VOC)Tutoring as a Supplemental Instructor^ SI Leaders who take TUTR 10C will develop a protocol for conducting small-group tutorials. ^ Students in TUTR 10C will develop the ability to prepare, conduct, and facilitate effective and collaborative group sessions in accordance with an instructor?s guidelines and students? needs. ^ Students in TUTR10C will be able to obtain feedback about a Supplemental Instruction session plan and incorporate that feedback into a second session. ^ Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders who take TUTR 10C will use questioning methods to encourage active learning.
TUTR 10D (VOC)Tutoring in Mathematics^ Tutors who take TUTR 10D will be able to apply questioning strategies to promote active learning. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10D will be able to explain math concepts in multiple ways.
TUTR 10R (VOC)Tutoring in Reading^ All students will demonstrate an understanding that they need to develop a flexible approach to reading tutoring that addresses both cognitive and affective elements. ^ N/A ^ Tutors completing TUTR 10R will accurately explain a textbook reading strategy. ^ Tutors completing TUTR 10R will be able to apply questioning strategies to promote active learning. ^ Tutors completing TUTR 10R will understand the uses of different strategies for reading.
TUTR 10B (VOC)Tutoring in the English Language^ In the diagnostic in the first class session, each student will self-identify an area of mechanical (grammar/punctuation) weakness. ^ Students will observe and write up their observations of effective tutoring processes and areas that could be addressed. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10B will be able to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in tutees' drafts, with an emphasis on global organizational issues. ^ Tutors who take TUTR 10B will be able to identify problems particularly associated with both global and mechanical issues and develop an approach to help students improve their writing. ^ Utilizing techniques discussed in class, each student will attempt to handle a contentious tutoring session example.
