A Community Student is an area
resident who wants to take personal development
and enrichment classes—on a noncredit
basis. However, this student may want to earn
a certificate in a specialized skill as a requirement
for his or her job. The student may have lost
his job and wants to enter a new vocation. Another
may want to earn a high school diploma/GED,
or get remedial help on the 3 R’s.
Many community students just
want to have fun and take on a new hobby or
go on a cruise or get in shape. They range in
age from 6 to past 60, and there are classes
and programs tailored to just about every interest.
The enrollment process and
fee structure for these noncredit programs and
courses are very different from the credit and
degree programs offered at Mt. SAC.
