Yesterday: Mt. SAC
Today: Commuter Train Maintenance Specialist
I have kept buses rolling
at the Metropolitan Transit Authority for more than 20
years. But my dream job was to work on commuter trains.
I enrolled in Mt. SAC’s
Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology Program
and earned a Certificate in Electronics Communication.
That was my E-ticket to the A-train!
I was among 50 applicants
who took the rigorous MTA electronics test and emerged
as one of only four mechanics who passed.
Today as one of MTA’s
newest Maintenance Specialists, I am doing mechanical
troubleshooting, replacing brakes and monitoring automatic
protection devices on a large fleet of commuter trains.
I owe it all to the excellent
computer simulation training and instruction I got from
Mt. SAC. So not only am I keeping our regional rail system
on track, but my career as well!
