Mt. SAC's Workforce Stars

Twenty-six of Mt. SAC’s career education programs were recently recognized as Strong Workforce Stars, including four programs earning gold status to give Mt. SAC highest number of programs recognized as gold among Los Angeles County community colleges.

Overall, four Mt. SAC programs earned gold status, five programs were given silver status, and 17 were recognized as bronze. Mt. SAC’s 26 Workforce Stars tied Cerritos College’s 26 for second behind first-place Pasadena City College with 30 Workforce Star programs.

Strong Workforce Stars is a new recognition for career education programs at California Community Colleges whose graduates have shown significant employment-related gains, including increased earnings, attainment of a living wage, and employment that closely matches a student’s field of study.

Mt. SAC’s gold Workforce Star programs were Environmental Control Technology, Energy Systems Technology, Paramedic, and Registered Nursing programs.

Programs recognized as silver Workforce Stars were Radiologic Technology, Photography, Airframe Maintenance Technology, Mental Health Technology/Psychiatric Technician, and Alcohol/Drug Counseling.

Bronze programs included Electronics, Aeronautics, Manufacturing and Industrial Technology, Aviation Powerplant Mechanics, Air Traffic Control, Veterinary Technician, Business and Commerce, Accounting, Business Management, Architecture, Respiratory Care Therapy, Computer Programming, Database Design and Administration, Administration of Justice, Fire Technology, Interior Design, and Hospitality.
