Frequently Asked Questions
3rd Annual Black College Fair
September 15, 2007
What is the purpose of the fair?
This event will raise awareness of the opportunities that lie in attending a Historically Black College or University, including: excellent academic and intellectual stimulation and education, nurturing environment to promote student success, low student-to-teacher ratio, cultural studies and awareness, affordable tuition, accountable administration, and community and political involvement. This will be accomplished by engaging students and parents in a panel discussion, one-on-one professional/student interaction, college preparatory workshops, various HBCU information tables, as well as on-site registration.
What is the cost of attending the fair?
The fair is free and open to all area students.
Where do I park and how much does it cost?
Plan to park in Parking Lot B, on the west side of campus, off of Grand Avenue. There is no cost for event parking. Click here for a printable flyer with location map.
Which historical black colleges and universities are going to be there?
Confirmed participants include: Grambling State, Howard, Johnson C. Smith, Texas Southern, Xavier, and Bethune-Cookman Universities, as well as the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise (FIDM). In addition, representatives from Mt. SAC, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Los Angeles will be on hand. NOTE: More confirmations are expected as the Black College Fair gets closer.
I’m a high school senior but I’m not ready to go to a four-year institution. Should I go to the Black College Fair?
Yes, because even if you go to a two-year college like Mt. SAC, this fair will give you information about how to transfer to a four-year HBCU.
