Additional Resources

For questions regarding Los Angeles County policies or FAQs regarding certification or continuing education requirements or courses please refer to the L.A. County EMS Agency website. Often, candidates have questions regarding legal issues that may prevent them from licensure or are in need of recertification and need information regarding the requirements for recertification.  Disciplinary actions are contained within section 1798.200.  Certification issues are addressed in Article 5 of the Health and Safety Code, paragraph 100080.

For information regarding legal aspects of EMT-B and Paramedic certification and licensure, please see the Health and Safety Code regulations at the California EMS Authority website

All EMT-Basic and Paramedic candidates now must pass the National Registry of EMTs exam to be certified (EMT-B) or licensed (Paramedic).  For information regarding testing sites, fees and practice exams, please see the following:  National Registry of EMTs

Mt. SAC’s EMS Programs work closely with our Fire Science Program. Our goal is to foster the relationship between medical and fire suppression crews and to encourage the type of discipline that is needed in these demanding professions. Please see our Fire Tech site.
