IT Receives CCCCO Technology Focus Award

The Class Pass for Student Transportation project was selected to receive a Technology Focus Award for 2013 by the Technology, Research and Information Systems Division of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The Class Pass for Student Transportation project is a web application that verifies a student's eligibility and registers a Foothill Transit bus pass in the College's student information system, Banner, through a single swipe of a student's ID card and a scan of the bus pass. More than 3,000 students took advantage of this program during the fall 2013 semester. This custom designed web application will now be used as a model by Foothill Transit for possible implementation at other schools that utilze Banner.

The Technology Focus Award will be presented at the Feburary 2013 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOA) Conference in Anaheim, CA. Accepting on behalf of Mt. SAC will be Bob Hughes, Director Enterprise Application Systems, and Chuong Tran and Heather Zhao, the lead programmers for the project.
