Flexibility (range of motion tests)


“Although the term flexibility is a popular one, it may be a misnomer because it implies flexion. However, flexibility does not solely consist of flexion; it includes extension, abduction, adduction, and circumduction.” (Adams, 1990)

“Flexibility may be defined and then subdefined in various ways. One meaningful definition of flexibility is the optimal range of motion (ROM) permitted by connective and muscle tissue.” (Adams, 1990)

Sit and reach test


The sit and reach test is a flexibility test used to measure an individuals ability to stretch the hamstrings, lower back, calf and gluteals. It assists in the evaluation of safe and injury preventative range of motion.
