Radiologic Technology Program
|
Welcome to Radiologic Technology
The course of study in Radiologic Technology offered at Mt. San Antonio
College and its affiliated hospitals will enable students to gain
knowledge and understanding of the diagnostic uses of x-ray as well as
the technical skills to use x-ray equipment in both laboratory and
clinical settings. The courses are developed to enable students to
operate x-ray equipment, assist in the diagnosis of disease, and to
apply proper medical ethics. The student will learn the nature of
radiation, the principles of electricity, the structure of x-ray
machines, and the operation of a clinical x-ray department.
Students who have completed four (4) semesters and three (3) summer
sessions of preparation at the College and its affiliated hospitals are
eligible to apply for the registry examination through the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and the California Certification
of Radiologic Technology.
ACCREDITATION
Mt. San Antonio College is accredited by the Western Association of
Schools and Colleges and the State Department of Education. The
Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by the State and the Joint
Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
OPPORTUNITIES
The employment opportunities for Radiologic Technologists are
excellent. There are not now, and probably will not be in the near
future, a sufficient number of qualified technologists to perform the
required work. It follows then, that anyone selecting this area as a
health career will be assured of a well-paid and rewarding future. |
