Professor Jefferson has been a member of Mt. SAC faculty since 2001. He has 32 years of law enforcement experience He began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department. His assignments included traffic control, patrol, vice, swat, anti terrorist division, gangs, narcotics, community relations, internal affairs, and training division. He retired at the rank of Captain.
Professor Jefferson then served seven years as Chief of Police for the city of Modesto California. At Modesto, he oversaw a department that consisted of 262 sworn officers with a total of 400 employees.
