At the age of 12, Christina began to ride horses at a local riding academy, eventually working in the stable during the weekend and summers to pay for lessons. While in college, she participated on the College Riding Team and had the opportunity to work with two Olympic riders, as well as various breeding farms handling young horses, preparing horses for sale, and participating in breeding operations.
The highlight of her college education was participating in the academic term abroad program, during which Christina spent a year traveling through Europe, concentrating mostly at Flyinge, The National Stud of Sweden, and a private breeding farm in Poland.
After graduating college, Christina moved to California to work as Farm Manager for a Warmblood breeding farm in Davis, CA. From there, she attended School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. While attending Davis, she worked as both a student technician in the equine hospital and as a Barn Nurse. This position entailed supervising and instructing fellow students on treatments and monitoring of in house equine patients.
Christina has been in private practice for the last 11 years, initially working at a practice specializing in race tracks, where she was one of two doctors who worked on private stable horses and performed in-house surgeries.
For the last nine years, she has worked at an ambulatory-only practice based in Anaheim with a wide client base that participates in a diverse group of disciplines. She is responsible for both routine appointments and emergencies.
In addition to teaching at Mt. SAC, Christina is also currently responsible for the Equine Unit, providing care for the horses housed in the unit, and supervising the student employee. |
