Although he didn’t realize it then, Brian Scott began his career in horticulture as a sophomore in high school when he started working for a wholesale nursery on a part-time basis. Two years later, he began working for a landscape maintenance company which led him to enroll at Mt. SAC where he graduated with an A.S. Degree in Horticulture. Later, he transferred to Cal Poly Pomona and eventually earned a B.S. Degree in Horticulture with an emphasis on sports turf management. Over the next seven years, Brian worked for a landscape contractor—first running the irrigation department and then as the operations manager for the company. The following four years were spent as the sole proprietor of his own landscape design and installation company. In 2001, he began his current teaching career at Mt. SAC as a Professor of Horticulture. He has a C-27 (Landscape Contractors License), a PCA (Pest Control Advisor’s License), and a QAC (Qualified Applicator’s Certificate).
