Teaching Assistant: Ernestine Le

Ernestine Le

• Office: Bldg 6 - Room 102
• email: ele@mtsac.edu or plebian_myth101@yahoo.com

She is a nationally acclaimed author of short stories and poems, written not only in English, but also in Spanish and Tagalog. She has been offered the Pulitzer twice but humbly declined to accept the coveted prize as she felt she didn't quite deserve it yet. When she is awake, Ernestine works as a teaching assistant in the areas of Writing Skills Review, Improving Reading Comprehension, and Math Skills Review at Mt. San Antonio College and is a full-time student at Cal State LA. She is an English major and, therefore, is an avid reader (sometimes not by choice). She does a bit of writing and hopes to be published someday.

Department Philosophy
As research-based developmental educators, we recognize and value that all learners have their own pathways as well as obstacles to learning. Although we believe students need to assume responsibility for their own learning, we also believe that students learn best in a positive learning environment that includes social interaction. We provide scaffolding through the support structures — the integration of technology, the access to useful resources and professional educators — that help students develop cognitive, metacognitive, and affective strategies.
