Degrees: BS in Chemistry, UCLA; MA in Adult Education, CSULA

Credentials: AFTC Instructor Certification, Basic Skills in Community College

Experience: Instructor in Air Force electronics program; taught GED and college prep for military overseas personnel; currently teach reading, writing, math and study techniques courses in LAC

Ed. Areas of Interest: Reading curriculum; Alverno and outcomes-based methodologies, brain-based learning, developing technology-supported andragogy for classroom

Personal Areas of Interest: Reading, running, biking, swimming, travel and time with the family

Department Philosophy
As research-based developmental educators, we recognize and value that all learners have their own pathways as well as obstacles to learning. Although we believe students need to assume responsibility for their own learning, we also believe that students learn best in a positive learning environment that includes social interaction. We provide scaffolding through the support structures — the integration of technology, the access to useful resources and professional educators — that help students develop cognitive, metacognitive, and affective strategies.
