Tutorial Services: Tutoring in Math

Math tutoring: walk-in tutoring on a first-sign up, first served basis. Tutoring sessions typically last up to 20 minutes. Students may have more than one session per day. Back to back sessions are discouraged because students need a chance to try the problems on their own.

Most tutors can tutor Math 50 Pre-Algebra through Math 181 Calculus and Analytic Geometry; some tutors can tutor Math 280 Calculus and Analytic Geometry.

Tutoring for Math 110 Elementary Statistics may be limited. Please call (909) 594-5611, extension 6605 for the current tutor availability.

Students enrolled in Math 50 through Math 71 Intermediate Algebra may also use the Math Activities Resource Center located on the third floor of Humanities and Social Sciences Building (26B-302).

Department Philosophy
As research-based developmental educators, we recognize and value that all learners have their own pathways as well as obstacles to learning. Although we believe students need to assume responsibility for their own learning, we also believe that students learn best in a positive learning environment that includes social interaction. We provide scaffolding through the support structures — the integration of technology, the access to useful resources and professional educators — that help students develop cognitive, metacognitive, and affective strategies.
