Computer-Based Testing for Courses at Other Colleges

 

Step 1 : The student requesting monitoring for online exam(s) arranges an appointment with Testing Services at least two weeks in advance of the exam due date. Contact information follows:

Step 2 : The representative of the college or university in which the student is enrolled will send all of the following to Testing Services. The online testing will not be monitored unless all of the required materials and forms are received two weeks in advance.

•  Test materials and complete instructions should be sent to

•  The Exam Protocol Form (pdf PDF and word Word available) should be sent to the above address or by email attachment to gjernigan@mtsac.edu

•  Instructions for returning the completed exam should be included in the test materials and instructions.

Step 3 : The student takes the exam at the appointed date and time. On the actual date/time of the exam to be monitored,

•  The student will not be allowed to enter the testing site with any open book materials or notes other than what Testing Services has received as part of the exam materials from the college or university.

•  The student may have access to the exam only during the time period allowed by the instructor.

The student's responsibilities include :

  1. Scheduling the exam date and time with Testing Services well in advance of the testing time frame provided by the student's instructor.
  2. Taking the exam within the timeframe outlined by the instructor.
  3. Signing and keeping the Certification of Exam Completion Form.
  4. Providing pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelope for mailing the completed exam according to the instructor's requirement.
  5. Calling to cancel if the appointment will not be kept.

Testing Services functions and duties include :

  1. Ensuring that all necessary technologies are available and working, provided specifications are received two weeks in advance.
  2. Following precisely the instructor's requirements for administering the exam. These may include a time limit, specific allowable equipment, such as a calculator and inclusion or exclusion of books, notes, etc.
  3. Preparing the exam and any relevant materials (such as scratch paper) for return, if required, by sealing it in an envelope, defined and/or provided, immediately after the student completes it.
  4. Handling the actual exam prior to and following its completion as the only person permitted to do so.
