OUTCOME

Academic Senate

Terri Beam stated that the Distance Learning Moratorium, Resolution 01-07, was passed in the Academic Senate.

A Committee Report Form will be sent to the Curriculum & Instruction Council requesting assistance in creating guidelines for EDC in support of this Moratorium. Possible guidelines will be discussed at the October 23^rd meeting.

Draft Review

Two drafts were reviewed: Distance Learning Course Approval form and Distance Learning Course Development Guide for Instructors and Departments.

Additional revisions will be made and then reviewed at the next Distance Learning meeting. It was suggested that a course template be made to assist instructors in visualizing the components of an online course during the development stages.

Shared Governance

Membership of the EDC was discussed, and it was determined to be inaccurate in the AR&Ps.

Kerry Stern will notify Diana Casteel of the corrections to the membership and meeting day and time. Terri will notify Academic Senate of the need for an additional faculty member.

Best Practices Retreat

The Distance Learning Retreat, which was tentatively scheduled for November 2, has been postponed. The PDC deadline for Spring 2002 funding requests is November 1, 2001.

Terri will submit a proposal for funding a retreat for Distance Learning to be held in March 2002.

Committee Representation

Tom McFarland has agreed to represent the EDC with the Staff Development adhoc group regarding best practices for the college.

CVC Conference 2001 will be held October 14-16 in Huntington Beach.

Kerry and Terri will attend on Sunday and Monday.
