Requirements for Success in Distance Learning Courses
A student enrolling in a Distance Learning course must have a minimum of the following hardware and software capabilities:
- Computer connected to the Internet, preferably high-speed connection
- Recent version of browser software
- Word processing software, such as Microsoft Word
- A Mt. SAC email account

Expectations of students in Distance Learning classes:
- Login in to course web site several times each week
- Become familiar with course website
- Read course website to understand professor’s instructions
- Read textbook and other resources to understand course topics
- Start assignments well before the due date
- Submit assignments on time
- Initiate contact with professor for help with course materials
- Contact Tutorial Services for additional help, as needed
- Ask for technical help immediately when needed
Computer and Internet skills needed:
- Know how to search the Internet
- Can send email, using Mt. SAC email address (accessed through MyMtSAC portal);
be able to add attachments
- Have adequate word-processing skills
