Why Learn Chinese?
|
| The Chinese
languages are spoken by more than
one billion people worldwide, and
are the languages of the Han people,
which is the largest ethnic group
in China and the Republic of China.
About one-fifth of the world’s
population, or over 1 billion people,
speak some form of Chinese as their
native language, and Mandarin Chinese
alone has around 850 million native
speakers, outnumbering any other languages
in the world. Standard Mandarin
is the official language of the People's
Republic of China and the Republic
of China (Taiwan), as well as one
of four official languages of Singapore.
Chinese—de facto, Standard Mandarin—is
one of the six official languages
of the United Nations. |
| Mt. SAC offers
beginning and intermediate, university-transferable Chinese language courses that include both verbal and written
learning, taught by native speakers
in both English and Chinese. |
