Writers' Workshops
Your work will be critiqued and discussed by published writers, publishers, and fellow aspiring writers in a fun and comfortable environment. This will also be a unique look into the creative process of professional writers and a chance to share your own knowledge of writing.
College Creative Writing Programs
College representatives will help you transfer to writing programs and talk with you about the options and opportunities available for seeking a degree in creative writing, including Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) programs in Southern California. With representatives, you can discuss not only what various creative writing programs involve, but also the requirements you will need to satisfy to be admitted into these programs. This will be a great chance to start planning for your future in writing.
Manuscript Preparation
If you have aspirations for publishing your work but don’t know a lot about how to accomplish this goal, learn about the steps to preparing manuscripts for publication, submitting manuscripts for publication, and other important parts of this process from writers who have published their writing professionally across the country and beyond.
Panel Discussion
Our guest speakers will discuss the issues most relevant and significant in the writing community today, such as recent and popular trends in literature and creative writing, topics and themes writers are currently exploring, the challenges writers face, and where literature may be headed in the future.
Open Mic Readings
Open microphone readings are a great way to celebrate and show appreciation for the work all writers do, and, best of all, there’s never any pressure to take the microphone yourself. You can just sit back and enjoy the readings and performances with like-minded souls.
What You Will Need
We encourage you to bring the following materials with you to the retreat:
- a notebook
- pens and pencils
- 10 copies of any work you wish to share during our writing workshops
- your work on a flash drive or disc
- pocket money
Food & Refreshments
