Welcome
to Mt. San Antonio College's History of Art
and Visual Culture. The Art History program
will help you explore and understand our Western
and Non–Western
art and culture. You will cultivate your understanding
of the visual arts from many perspectives, gaining
a foundational
understanding of art's influence in various
cultures and societies. Art History and Visual
Culture explores history, politics, and society,
as well as philosophy, religion, and literature,
enriching your learning experiences in these
disciplines or complementary fields such as
archaeology, anthropology, history and philosophy.
The
History of Art is a discipline which will cultivate
your critical thinking, reading, and writing
skills, preparing you for careers in museums,
education, travel study groups to
foreign countries, art restoration, and conservation
among others.
