THE HONORS PROGRAM

Get Involved!

The Honors Leadership Team organizes social, educational, and service events for Honors students.  Past events have included game nights, bowling night, films (e.g, Syriana, Vagina Monologues, Times of Harvey Milk), visiting the Getty Center, and development of an Honors Scholarship.

Honors Ambassadors promote the Honors Program on campus and at local high schools.  You will develop a 5 minute promotional speech; once approved, you will arrange 10 to 20 presentations at clubs, classes, or local high schools.  Click here for an application.

Tutor on Campus! The Learning Assistance Center and the Writing Lab are always looking for tutors.  These are PAID positions! Click here for more information on Learning Assistance Tutors.

Honors Societies: Becoming a member of an honorary society has many benefits.

It provides a social network, leadership opportunities, and, in some cases, eligibility for scholarships. If you qualify for honors, you probably also qualify for these honor societies, so if you haven't done so already, check them out! The following honors societies have chapters at Mt. SAC. Each has different membership criteria.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society

• 3.5 cumulative GPA
• completion of 12 transferable units
• Obtain application in Honors Center (15-3)
• $65 membership fee; $70.

Alpha Gamma Sigma California Honors Society

• High school students: 3.5 cumulative GPA
• College students: 3.0 cumulative GPA AND completion of 12 transferable units
• $10 to $20 membership fee per semester depending on membership level
• Obtain application in Student Life(9-C)
