THE HONORS PROGRAM

Eligibility Requirements

Requirements for 1st time college students (including high school students)

  • Eligibility for English 1A
  • 3.5 GPA (weighted is okay)
  • 1000 SAT (old SAT) score (500 verbal / 500 math) or teacher recommendation

**HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS**

  • Turn in your Honors application with your official final transcript after applying to Mt. SAC. 
  • Note: You must attend Honors Orientation before taking classes. (Click on "Events and Workshops" at left for June Orientations.)

Requirements for students who have already attended college:

  • Completed at least 9 transferable (bachelor level) units
  • Eligibility for English 1A
  • 3.5 cumulative bachelor-level GPA

Special Admission is available to students whose GPA falls below 3.5:

The Honors Program offers Special Admission to highly motivated students with extenuating circumstances.  Students must submit a personal essay and a letter of recommendation along with their Honors Application.  Special Admission applicants are not guaranteed admission, but many will get a second chance. Application

To apply, please submit:

  • Application
  • Work in Progress form (if you are applying mid semester or later)
  • Proof of English 1A eligibility
  • SAT scores or teacher letter of recommendation for 1st time college students.
  • Special Admission essay and letter of recommendation if your GPA falls below 3.5.
