The Art of Tea
Tea has been enjoyed and revered by people for thousands of years. In ancient times in China, tea was considered the "Elixir of Life" and was used to pay tribute to the emperor. Tea is not only a healthy beverage, it is a form of meditation, community and of self realization. In today's hurried world, not many of us take the time to enjoy this wonderful gift of nature. This course will take you back in time to the origin of tea and how it evolved through history. Students will learn the six categories of tea with an emphasis on Pu'erh tea, a tea that can be aged like wine. It is considered the "drinkable antique." In this class, students will be tasting a different vintage of Pu'erh tea from different famous tea mountains. Students will also learn the essentials of the Chinese Gongfu Tea Ceremony.
