Thank you for your interest in working with ESL at Mt. San Antonio College.
All of our faculty positions are part-time. Hours of assignment range from 4 to 22 per week. New instructors for 2008-2009 are paid $47.38 per contact hour. Although we are usually fully-staffed, we always welcome applications from qualified candidates.
Most of our instructors have a Master´s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL/TESL/TEFL). Some have a Bachelor´s degree in English, journalism, linguistics, a foreign language, intercultural studies, or a related field PLUS a graduate-level certificate in TESOL. A full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL is also acceptable. For a detailed list of qualifications and a faculty application, please email Marchelle Nairne-Proulx, ESL Secretary, at mnairne-proulx@mtsac.edu or click the links below. In addition to a faculty application, please submit a resume, two letters of recommendation on company letterhead, and your transcipts. (Copies are fine for application purposes; official, sealed transcripts will be required upon employment.)
We also employ in-class instructional aides who perform a variety of tasks to assist the instructor. Many of our aides are Mt. SAC students, and we are able to schedule their work around their own courses. Aides must be eligible for or have passed English 1A. To find out more, stop by the ESL Instructional Support office and ask for the ESL-Tutor Supervisor or call x5004
We have a very limited number of clerical support staff, and there are no openings at this time. We appreciate your interest in our program!
