to the services of our Career
Placement Office located on the 2nd floor of the Student Service
Center, building 9B. The Career Placement Office
can assist students and alumni with their resumes,
cover letters, and interviewing skills. Job
listings are available online throughout the

Career Opportunities
Career opportunities are found in both the
private and public sectors. In the private
sector, paralegals are usually employed by law
firms, banks, accounting firms, title companies,
engineering firms, insurance companies, corporations
and construction companies, and often specialize
in such areas as litigation, probate, real estate,
corporate, or domestic relations. In
the public sector, paralegals are employed by
state and local governmental agencies in such
specialties as welfare, family law, health care,
legal clinics, Legal Aid, the Social Security
Administration, disability benefits, and unemployment
compensation.
Outlook and Compensation
In recent years the need for paralegals has
increased substantially. The U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics projects that careers in
the paralegal field will see a great percentage
of job growth in the next decade. Employment
opportunities will exist almost everywhere law-related
work is performed.
