Welcome back to another exciting semester. I hope you had an enjoyable and restful holiday break and are ready for a new and fruitful spring semester.
|
I am looking forward to working with all of you to maintain the "excellence in education" standard for which this division is known. This is possible only through the collaboration of the faculty, staff, and administrators. I believe in you, and I am available to assist in any way. I invite you to bring your ideas and issues to me and to visit me in my office whenever you can.
I wish to thank each of you for doing such amazing work by ensuring more effective and efficient classroom experiences for our students. Without your dedication, support, and "focus on the students" we would not have earned the "excellence in education" reputation. During these economic uncertainties and employment challenges, students need us more than ever, and I have the utmost confidence and trust in your ability to assist our students.
Undoubtedly, great opportunities await us in the coming months as this will be another challenging yet exciting and fulfilling semester for us. Best wishes for an enjoyable and successful semester and warmest regards to each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Joumana McGowan

We are fortunate this spring to be able
to hire four new Business Division
faculty for these disciplines:
|
- Accounting
- Paralegal
- Computer Information Systems
- Interior Design
|
The hiring committees will be going through the hiring process during the Spring Semester.
|
|
Please work with your Department Chairs in developing a time schedule for development of new program (Degree and Certificate) SLOs and their assessment. Continue to work on the Course Level SLOs and make the necessary plans on assessing them as well during the spring semester, if needed.

Beginning with the winter intersession and continuing through spring and summer
you will be seeing a lot of construction & touch-up work being done to our old
and dilapidated Business Division buildings, namely: 17, 18, 19B, and 20.
The work will include the moving of the air conditioning units on the walkway overhangs,
stripping off old paint and painting inside and outside, new classroom windows,
and re-carpeting in some classrooms, new projection screens, and much more.
|
|
|
During the summer intersession work will begin on remodeling and updating of our Foods Lab in Bldg 19B-5. New counters and cabinets will be installed; new windows and ventilation upgrades will be made and much more.

CIS Professor, Jaishri Mehta, wrote a proposal for Mt. San Antonio College to become a Regional Advanced Technological Center in Information Assurance (Cyber Security) for all the Western States. The school would work in collaboration with:
Cal Poly Pomona
,
Cal State San Bernardino
,
Cal State Dominguez Hills
,
Whatcom Community College
,
and many other colleges. The proposal defines that the Center will be physically housed at Mt. San Antonio College and be called CyberWatch West. The grant proposal is for three million dollars and for four years. The grant has four main objectives:
|
- Student Development
- Curriculum Development
- Faculty Development
- Community Outreach

Sometime during spring or summer Printing Services (21A/B) will be moving back into the remodeled Administration building - Bldg 4.
After that move takes place our Business Management discipline will begin to use the classrooms in Bldgs 21A & 21B as their Management Institute, replicating what they had down in the basement of Bldg 4 before its remodel. We are happy they have found a home!
