How Can I Get a Catalog and/or Schedule of Credit Classes?
The current
College Catalog
can be purchased at the bookstore or downloaded from Mt. San Antonio College’s web site.
For purchasing information call the Sac Book Rac at (909) 274-4475. The College Catalog contains
information about the college, procedures, and program requirements for the academic year. The
Schedule of Credit Classes contains information about
intended course offerings and registration procedures for a specific term. The Schedule of Credit Classes
is available, at no charge, in campus offices, district libraries, or, if you live outside Mt. San Antonio
College’s district, one may be ordered to be sent to a residence by calling the student hotline at
(909) 274-5409. (If you live within Mt. San Antonio College’s district a schedule will
not be mailed to your home. You may pick one up in local libraries, campus offices, or download it from
the web site.)
How Can I get an Application and/or registration packet?
To obtain an Application for Admission, you can pick one up from the Office of Admissions and Records or apply online! Applications are also available in the center of the Schedule of Credit Classes. The Schedule of Credit Classes will serve as a registration packet.
How Do I Register?
To be eligible to register for classes, a student must have a current Application for Admission on file. Once an application is on file the college will generate a "Permit to Register" for that student, and mail it to the address indicated on the application. If a student fails to enroll for four consecutives terms he or she must file a new Application for Admission with the Office of Admissions and Records. When can I File my Application for Admission?
Applications are accepted one year prior to the beginning of the desired semester through the first week of class (Friday at 4 p.m.) of the desired semester (third day of desired Summer session). Students are strongly urged to file their Applications at least three months prior to the beginning of the desired semester. Applications are processed in the order received. Students that submit Applications earlier will be assigned earlier registration dates. This gives them a better chance to get the classes they want. Students that submit Applications early and complete the Matriculation Plan (see Registration Process) will be rewarded with better priority dates the next semester.
What if I am undecided about my major?
Many college students are undecided about
their major. Mt. SAC has developed a course,
COUN 5 - Career/Life Planning,
which helps students decide on a major as
well as apply super learning techniques.
The course assists the student in assessing
personality, interests, aptitudes and values
as preparation for career research. The
Transfer Center
and
Library
have many sources of career information.
What is a major? Do I have to declare one?
A major is an organized program of courses within a discipline leading to an Associate Degree, Vocational Certificate, or transfer to a college or university. It is not mandatory for a student to declare a major. Normally, when you apply for admissions, there is a space for you to declare a major. If you haven't declared a major, and you would like to or if you have declared one and would like to change it you would need to fill out a Personal Information Update form in the Admissions and Records Office. You may want to meet with a counselor for assistance in major selection.
What is General Education?
General Education courses are sometimes called "breadth requirements". These are courses outside of your major, required of everyone to obtain a degree, regardless of your major. They are designed to make you a "well rounded" person. It is recommended that you work with a counselor to ensure that you are following the correct General Education pattern.
What is a certificate program?
Mt. SAC offers several different
certificate programs
.
Certificates are designed to provide students with applied training in specific occupational areas. Students will be prepared with employable skills by completing a certificate program. Certificates are recognized favorably by business and industry, and they are often required for job classification advancement.
How do I apply for graduation?
Students must apply for
graduation
early in the semester that they hope to graduate by making an appointment with a counselor.
Mt. SAC conducts one commencement ceremony per year in June.
How do I transfer to another college?
In order to transfer successfully, you will want to meet with a counselor and visit our
Transfer Center
.
A counselor will help you to evaluate whether you have all of the requirements that you need to transfer. The Transfer Center is located inside the cafeteria. The Transfer Center offers catalogs, videos, internet searches, college applications, various college representatives and a College and University Faire each year.
Who is considered an "International Student"?
An International Student is someone who holds an F-1 student visa whose legal residency is outside of the United States. Admission and enrollment policies and procedures vary for F-1 students. Students are required to submit both an International Student Application and a credit application for admission to the college.

How Can I Get My Grades?
Mt. San Antonio College does not mail grade reports. Grades are available online
https://my.mtsac.edu/
or over the telephone registration system approximately two weeks after the end of the semester. Grades for the preceding semester will remain on the telephone registration system until registration begins for the next semester. (i.e. Summer grades will be available through the Fall term until Spring registration begins.) Grades are also available on the campus KIOSKS. Unofficial transcripts are available from the Advising Center, located on the upper floor of the Student Services Center.
Does my eligibility expire?
Placement tests are valid for two years. Eligibility based on previous course-work does not expire.
Non-native speakers of English, who are so identified from information
provided on the College
Application for Admission
are required to have their English competency
(listening, reading, and English usage) assessed prior to registration.
Directions for the assessment will be mailed by the Counseling
and Matriculation Office as soon as the applications are processed.
Based on the assessment, you are placed in one of the following
three categories:
- Exempt from AMLA (American Language) --or--
- ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. You may enroll in any courses for which you are eligible (prerequisites satisfied).
- Eligible for AMLA program: You may enroll in AMLA courses or continue to enroll in AMLA courses each semester until the series has been completed.
- Eligible for ESL program: You may enroll in ESL adult education courses each semester until eligible for AMLA courses; then enroll in AMLA courses each semester until the series has been completed.
What is EOPS?
Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) is a student support services program designed to assist qualified students in meeting their education and career goals. The support services are aimed to serve and contribute to your success at Mt. San Antonio College. Our staff will work with you in an atmosphere that provides support and encourages independence. What is a course reference number - CRN?
The CRN - course reference number used during the registration process refers to the five digit number assigned to each section or offering of a course. This number can be found next to the class day, time, professor, and location information in the schedule of classes.
How Do I Return to Mt. SAC if I Have Not attended for at Least a Year?
Simply complete a new Application for Admission. Mt. SAC will always maintain records of the classes taken at Mt. SAC. However, if transcripts were brought from another school, those records may have been purged and duplicates may be required. Orientation will not be required for students who have previously participated in Orientation or students that have completed more than one unit of credit, but updated placement testing may be necessary. Counselors are available to help students get back on track. Students who were enrolled or who filed an Application for Admission during the previous semester will automatically receive a permit to register and need not reapply.
