This course is intended for students with no previous German.
The student will develop the ability to converse, read, and write in German.
Emphasis on oral proficiency. Includes the study of essentials of pronunciation,
vocabulary, idioms, and grammatical structures along with an introduction to Germanic
culture.

ENGL 68 - Preparation for College Writing

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Demonstrate comprehension of spoken and written learned material about basic topics.
- Demonstrate skill in using learned material to conduct conversations.
- Make presentations about themselves and basic topics to an audience of classmate listeners.
- Write at novice level: make lists and compose narratives and dialogues.
- Demonstrate understanding of the nature of language through comparisons of German and English (or their own language).
- Demonstrate comprehension of some basic cultural differences between their own and the German-speaking cultures.
