Application and development of construction materials. Formulation of materials specification used in architecture and the construction industry.
(54 hours lecture;      Degree appropriate, CSU)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Identify common building materials and typical construction details (up to 16 divisions).
  2. Classify common building materials according to CSI format.
  3. Utilize appropriate materials and their application for building design.
  4. Recognize key elements of contract documents (to include general conditions, bid documents, material specifications and construction drawings).
  5. Describe the relationship of the various construction trades in their application of construction specifications.
  6. Research and develop construction specifications based on CSI (Construction Specification Institute) format.
