COMP 1B Course Image
 
This course helps the student develop a straight-copy rate of 25 to 40 gross words a minute with a predetermined error limit and includes keyboarding of letters, tables, and manuscripts.
 
(27 hours lecture;   27 hours lab      Degree appropriate, CSU)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to touch type using correct finger placement.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to keyboard at the rate of 25-40 words per minute on a 3 minute timing.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to proofread for accuracy and format.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to interpret and use proofreader's marks.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to keyboard accurately letters and short manuscripts using correct formats.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to center tabulated documents both vertically and horizontally.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students completing COMP 1B - Computer Keyboarding will be able to touch type effectively.
  2. Students completing COMP 1B - Computer Keyboarding will be able to effectively proofread a business document for keying accuracy and format.
